Do Buffalo Swim?

Do Buffalo swim? Spencer asked as we caught sight of our 6th Yellowstone Buffalo. The boy was determined to be discontent with whatever animal sightings we came across. First claiming he would be happy to see just a chipmunk, then saying a buffalo, then he needed a herd of buffalo... you get it.

I informed him that yes, buffalo swim and they even use swim caps. Not 5 minutes later two buffalo literally plunged into the Snake River in front of us and swam through deep water to reach the other side. (We were close enough to see the swim caps)

Post Wildhorse (and mid head cold for me) Miste, Spencer, Cooper and I spent 2 days in Yellowstone. It was a grand time other than my cold and some interesting accommodations Miste will show you in her blog.

We saw buffalo, elk, (I even saw a wolf in the trees while stopped for road work)hiked to some waterfalls, and of course all the Yellowstone musts: Paint pots, (hot potties as Spencer called them)Old Faithful, the upper and lower Yellowstone Falls. etc.

Our big coupe was completing the license plate game. We had every state (and Canadian Province) except Hawaii, and managed to spot that just before exiting the park.

The perfect game for those slow driving Yellowstone roads.

The head cold lingers, but I'm glad I got to see the Buffalo swim caps.

Glad you got to see so many critters and were able to complete the elusive license plate game...The closest I think I've ever come is about40 states (if that). Wish I could have seen the buffalo with swim caps!
Nice image of the hot pottie! :0)

Gotta say your trip was more impressive than mine this year! I hate Yellowstone! Yes, I know it could be called blasphemy, but I do. I hate all the people, parking is a zoo (no wonder you found all the plates), no one ever thinks the do not approach the wildlife applies to them it's a wonder more people don't get killed every year......I could go on forever, but you get my point, I am glad you had a good time though! Love you!
