Castles

I've been trying to figure out how to describe all the different things we saw and it seemed like working by catagory might do the trick. Somehow these castles seem to lose some of their grandness when lumped together, but there it is.
So yeah, many castles. Wales is the castle capitol of the UK thanks to all the centuries fighting. All the castles here (except for the snooty red brick tower with flowers in front) are in Wales. Our favorite was Raglan castle, the one I put in the last post.
Kelsey asked how I got that picture.
Almost all of the castles had at least one tower you could climb up. (narrow stair pictures will come later I guess)

For anyone who has dreamed of seeing castle ruins this might be the place for you. Most are nearly 1000 years old. They are not the romantic Walt Disney castles with the fancy spires (those are mostly in austria and germany) but they certainly do impress you with their history and massiveness.

Catagory one: castles.

Wow! Those are amazing photos. I'm even more jealous than I was. I have read alot of historical fiction about Wales and that so fits with my visual image of it. What a cool opportunity. I always knew you were a talented photographer!

Miste is right you are a very talented photographer. These pictures are great. I love how you included the flowers in the second one and the cobble stone looking ground in the last one. These castles are amazing. If only I could have a moat around my house....Can't wait to hear more about the trip.

So, when are you going to post the "We're not lost!" pictures? I loved seeing you yesterday, albeit breifly and getting a sneak preview of the homland:)
I'm afraid I now have to add Wales and England to my list of places to see before I die.
And yes, you ARE a wonderful photographer you clever beastie you.

What great photos. Even if you were lost (I am not getting into that debate) at least you saw some cool things. I also am envious, but determined that someday I will go someplace with you. Hope it was a great trip. Can't wait to hear about it in person.
