Not Lost

As per Karen's request. (:
Roberta and I have different definitions of lost. Here is an exerpt from one of our conversations.
Me: Well, that was a fun time lost.
Her: We weren't lost!
Me: Yes we WERE
Her: No sir.
Me: When you don't know where you are in the world you are lost.
Her: We knew essentially where we were.
Me: Essentially we are in Wales, but we were lost.
Her: I think of lost as wandering around for hours completely clueless as to where you are or where to go.
Me: I think if you don't know where you are you are lost.
Her: Well, if we were lost I got us un-lost so it doesn't count.

End of exerpt.
So we spent much of the trip discussing what exactly lost is. I teased her a great deal about being like a man who refuses to ask for directions or admit they are lost, as if it is a reflection on your character.

Here are some pictures of Roberta asking for directions..............but not because we were lost!

Dictionary definition: Lost-having gone astray or missed the way; bewildered as to place, direction, etc.

I LOVE IT! I love the both of you and am increasingly jealous of your trip. But, I console myself with visions of us in New Zealand a couple of years from now...:)
I guess I would have to say that I am very aware of when I'm lost but like to pretend that it isn't that bad. Probably because I spend thousands of hours every year looking for things I've "misplaced", well ok. Lost.

This is a really funny post...especially with the pictures of you guys asking for directions. I think if you have to ask for directions you are lost :)

Personally I've always felt that Bert was a little lost even when she knows where she is!! Funny post. I can just visualize and hear her asking her questions. The one where she has her hand pointing is particularly typical. It sounds like you had a great time despite being lost or not lost. Keep posting!

I think both you and Roberta were right. It just depends on your definition of lost... I'm pretty sure that today I'm not lost but I am overwhelmed. Too many things to do to get ready to go. Arrggghhh...that's left over from pirate day last week. I think it should be pirate month - maybe even pirate day. Arrggghhh says so much.
