Doggie Daycare

Things are never what we plan! Kelly (who I rent the palace from) left quickly yesterday for a family emergency in Philly. I offered to feed the drooler dogs (see example... although this is not one of the dogs.. this is a svelt stylish model dog. the real dogs are bigger, mangier, stinkier and produce even more drool) What could go wrong, right?
Yeah so this morning Prudence (the especially unruly barker dog) is lying about and won't eat. On closer inspection I see that her back legs are spasming. I truly know something is wrong when a bunny goes by in the yard next door and she doesn't even blink.
After much trouble finding a number I get her "dad" in Michigan who confirms he thinks I should take her to the vet.
Cut to Me lifting a drooling 90lb dog into the back of my truck. The people at the vets commented that I really wasn't an animal person-this based on the unique way I had attached her leash.
Long story short. She has Lime disease from ticks she encountered daily last fall in Michigan. (the very reason they brought the dogs back to Tucson)

I'm supposed to get her to eat something so she can keep down these antibiotic pills, BUT she won't have it. First rice and chicken (as suggested by the vet) next try boiled hamburger (also vet recommended) She could care less.
She drinks water then goes outside and wretches it up. I feel bad for her. She just lays around trembling and spasming then moving to another place like that will help her feel better.

If I can't get her to eat by tomorrow night I will have to take her into the vets on Wed for IV meds.
Soo much more than I bargained for.
I do feel bad for the dog, and I'm so sad for Kelly whose father is dying. But, all this doesn't mean I feel comfortable doing this.
This is a huge week for me school wise and I have accomplished almost nothing today for a ton of work that is due friday. Instead of doing it now I'm blogging after the failed hamburger attempt.

Next is pedialight and hoping she eats in the a.m.
This is what I get for complaining about the drooling I suppose!

Oh no! That poor dog. And poor you. I hope she gets better soon. That just breaks my heart.

Poor doggie, makes me sad to visualize it. Honestly, I feel worse for you. I hope she gets better soon, so you can concentrate on your work. Good luck.

What IS it with you!?! There must be some karmic curse that brings out the worst case scenario in any given situation... Are you supposed to be a comedy/tragedy writer and God is giving you extra material? I too feel badly for the spasming, drooling 90 pound dog - but I also know how it feels to be in a situation that is totally alien with no polite way to get out whilst feeling completely overwhelmed. I'm praying for you... sounds like you both need it.
Hang in there.

I am so sorry for you both! How frustrating for you because those dogs were not even suppose to be there when you moved in. Your reaction shows what a compassionate person you are because a lot of people would have reacted differently. I hope the dog gets better quickly or dies so you can get back to your work. That sounds bad but as a pet lover I feel like I am say that....
