I've got a pretty long list really.
-Putting SunIn on my hair when I was 14.
-Not wearing makeup for my senior pictures
-Asking Mr Cummings why his wife didn't have any eyebrows.
- lighting a match under the thermometer so it would look like I had a fever
To name a few classics.
This week I've added a couple more to the always expanding list of mistakes.
First, The contemporary sculpture you see here used to be your run of the mill tuperware holder until I mistakenly left it on top of my new (new to me) rotisserie.
Yeah, I'm smart like that.
It was nearly impossible to pry off, and the surface of the rotisserie will never be the same.
Second (and not nearly as dramatic in photos as in real life) A Craigslist purchase that at this point seems a total mistake.
The giant comfy chair.
I was seduced by the comfort, the cush, the dim lighting and the giant house it was housed in. (ok, AND the cheap price) My first clue it was a mistake SHOULD have come when it barely fit in my truck, but somehow instead I felt sure it would be the fabulous movie watching chair of my
dreams. If you have ever seen a Clydesdale next to a Shetland, or a Great Dane by a Chiahuahua you might have an understanding of what the giant comfy chair looks like next to my other furniture.
So deluded was I that I didn't even have an inkling of the ridiculous scale issue until Maria and I slid it across the living room floor. Then, like catching a surprise glimpse of myself in the store mirror, I saw it.
IT IS HUGE.
Right now it is in the living room absorbing the echo from the vaulted ceiling and making all the other furniture feel inadequate. I've moved things around to nearly every configuration imaginable and there is no getting around it, hiding it, or diminishing it. It is HUGE.
These events certainly aren't going to make the top 10 list of mistakes in my life. They're chump change really. (For heaven's sake I actually dated a guy with a mullet for two years!)
But, as my top 100 expands... anyone want a giant chair for 50 bucks? It's really cushy.

Ahhh...You always make me laugh:0) The sculpture is quite lovely actually. Will you be creating other such masterpieces to have enough for a show? I think I could help out in that regard (I've created a few of those type of pieces myself over the years...
The lines of the Shrek chair are lovely. I like the Chihuahua great dane comparison. I have to say I'd take a great dane anyday over an oversized rat, I mean chihuahua.
Maybe the chair just needs a companion...for under $50bucks.
I'd forgotten about the mullet friend...Ahh the memories....
That is the coolest thing ever! You should forget printmaking and start doing that.
I still like the chair. Maybe in your bedroom? Hey if all else fails, you could give it to me!
My question is, "Is the chair comfy though?" If it is, who cares if it goes with the rest. I am all about the comfort. Who hasn't done something silly like the rotisierre/tupperware episode. I would be embarrassed to even start contemplating all mine! Funny, funny photo though.
You should put your sculpture somewhere of note and see if you get any comments on it....put a light on it too because that really added to the effect :) Cool.
That chair looks comfy to me and I can picture you all cuddled up eating yogurt or reading a thought provoking book...seriously...keep the chair!
