I'm posting early so I won't be late.
This is a habit of mine...being early. The thing is..if you are just "on time" you run the risk of being late, which I hate, so I am routinely 15-20 minutes early for most appointments. (that is unless I'm held up in another meeting by someone else, which is a whole other story.)
What does all this have to do with Mary Tyler Moore you ask? Well, since I'm early and nothing has happened this week (except for stomach pains, stressful work negotiations, and lots of computer time on the uber document) I'm previewing my week to come.
In two days I leave for Minneapolis, famous for lakes, flour milling (not a good sign for a celiac) and of course Mary Tyler Moore. (most of you are too young for that reference I know... but trust me, it is iconic)
Another cold fusion conference that allows me to rub shoulders with fellow researchers, eat nuts and prepackaged Lara bars for 4 days, (to avoid contamination) and skip regular work for a few days. The best part is staying with a good friend.
This is a rare occasion where the event is almost all at the expense of my work. It's a long and complicated story, but usually all of these things come out of my pocket, even though attendance is required now and again.
A well played "tit for tat" (not on purpose) guilted my boss into footing the bill for this one. Yay!!
Recent tummy troubles and pressing deadlines have me concerned about getting prepared for the trip, but I vow I'm going, and am aiming to return mostly alive. Maybe I'll run into that really bad MTM statue somewhere along the way and feel like flinging a hat I don't have.
I'm gonna make it after all. (again... lost on the young uns)

Sweat, I'm one of the young ones!! I say go to the DI and find a hat. I hope the conference is a good one, better yet I hope your visit with your friend is better! Love you!!
Dude I love it when I spell Sweet..Sweat it sounds so much cooler. I know I rock.
Oh Des! You always make me smile! I love it when you spell it that way too :0)
So - I could probably sing the entire song and give story lines for many of the episodes. I was SO into That girl.
Anywho...I hope you have a grand time - sans any major gastric episodes, plane delays, histrionics of anyone and just plain enjoy yourself.
You deserve it Missy!
And I went to mail a pkg for you today - so proud of myself for being on time - only to realize it's "Columbus Day?!?"
Ahh well...it;s the thought right?!?
Hope you have a swell time. You really should take of Desi's suggestion and go find a hat to throw in the air. Why not? Best show ever was the on where the clown died. Funny how Betty White is such a hot commodity right now.
I'm sorry you are having stomach issues. Hope it gets better soon. I hope that you have an excellent trip.
