This was our big adventure in the jungle day.
On the road by 5am so we could be at Chichen Itza before the hoards of bus tours.
In spite of missing our turn off to Merida and being lost for 45 minutes we made it there in time to see one of the 7 wonders of the world sans hoards. Very cool.
And speaking of cool, this was supposed to be the hottest spot of our trip, and one I was very worried about, but providence was with us (or me at least) It was an overcast and relatively cool day, and although we had lots of rain in the car, we encountered little on our tours. Luck. E.
The last shot is a view of the crowds coming in as we were leaving. Whew!

Definitely lucky to be ahead of the unwashed (okay they probably were washed) masses. I have always wanted to see some of those ruins!! How neat for you.
