Sorting Scanning, Copying

"Here is something you might like to see. You can look, but you can't take it"
It is an autograph book that belonged to Abigail Lewis, (Alice Ottley Halls mother, and my great grandmother) There is a poem written by her beau Fredrick Ottley. They were married two years later.
Of COURSE I want to see it!

Mom and I spent the last week at Aunt Julia's pouring over her hoards of photos and documents. It is unclear how she became the repository for all of this stuff, but it was a week of scanning, copying and mental overload.

Loads of photos... and this it the proverbial iceberg tip.

I'm including a bunch because I'm pretty sure some of you will enjoy seeing the mix.
Mostly family you will recognize, but I've also included some old pictures of people you likely don't recognize, but are great shots. Like Ewart Ottley (the dandy guy in the rocking chair...Moms uncle who never married) Also a scan of the calling for Frederick Ottley to be a Patriarch set apart by Joseph F. Smith.

Included all this so you could get a sense of the breadth of what we looked through.

Worth the trip.

Now the overwhelming task of sorting through it all.

It was actually Hyrum that signed it BTW (not that I'm quibbling at your treasure trove of pictures) Yes, it would totally be worth it! and indeed a mystery about how Julia became the keeper (which is a nice word)of all those pictures. Thank goodness for modern technology so now it can be shared! Good work!! I for one applaud your effort (and hope to reap some of the benefits "she says so selfishly") Love the comment from Julia though--as if you and mom were secretly planning to stash some in your pockets. There always has been something suspicious & underhanded about you and mom! It's kind of cracking me up.

Nice selection of images to share. I actually remember the reunion for the first one. I was put in charge of "babysitting" all the kids. Yeah...
I'm ThRiLLED that you and mom perservered and were able to secure digital imagery. I love that pic in the chair too. It's interesting to see the familial resemblances from parent to child and on.
THANK YOU for your persistence. I KNOW you will have scanned with sufficient resolution to make the files worth keeping,
Can't wait to see you (and more of the images) soon.

Those are awesome.
Jason's mom just gave us the equivilant of treasure for christmas. Pictures, news articles, but it isn't as cool when it's not your family.
I love seeing these pictures. There are some strong family resemblences, crazy.
Maybe the reason that Julia is the keeper is the same reason that you are the one doing all the work now. When you figure it out let me know.
