Thanksgivings..... sans glutino

What to post what to post? I always think my life sounds pretty boring and don't know what to write. Of late I have been working madly on my "research" as we must call it in academia. I would like to pretend that this research has something to do with nuclear fission since I'm not putting that part of my life on this public blog..... I'll just leave it a mystery. Lets just say things are going SLOWLY in my research department.
This week I went on two photo hunting trips with Gordon. It was so great just to get out in the fresh air. My photos are crap, but I really enjoyed it. Gordon on the other hand, has some amazing pictures. He has a really good eye, and a posh camera to boot. (she said with jealousy)

But what does this all have to do with Thanksgiving and gluten you ask. Nothing, just filling in my week, and thinking of the Thanksgivings I've had since I found out about my Celiac.

Last year at this time, I was in Sacramento with my good friend Emily. We went to Yosemite and stayed in these crazy cabin tents. It was super fun, as most things with Emily are.

We had a gluten free Thanksgiving with her next door neighbors. The whole trip was enlivened by a "Flat Stella" we were taking around for her niece Molly.
It was a really fun trip and the best Thanksgiving I have had being gluten free. Tomorrow should be fab too. (although I will miss Flat Stella)
Mom started a "simple gluten free" thanksgiving invite that has ballooned into 16 people. More people to play games and eat the chips. Nice of them all to be gluten free sports too.

I made a great ranch dressing from scratch (I'm proud of this one!) and mom has pulled some actual pies out of he gluten free creative hat. The big test will be the rice/quinoa stuffing we are going to experiment with.

For all of you far from family.... which I usually am on this holiday, I hope your holiday is restful and as gluten free as possible.

I had to laugh at the "chips" comment when talking about Thanksgiving. Dennis thinks its the funniest thing that we always had potato chips at Thanksgiving. He just doesn't get that it was one of the very few times that we got to have them! Our Thanksgiving here was anything BUT gluten free. I'm not sure how I would manage it if I had to think in those terms. I DID get to play Scrabble for Thanksgiving so that made it almost like being with the family. We did play a few other games too so it was nice all in all. Hope yours was good with the fam!

It was a gluten free Thanksgiving, but not glut free for me. There was certainly a LOT of tasty food, the turkey was delish, and the "festivus" (I have to tease you about that :0)dressing was devine! I think I like it even better than traditional bread stuffing. It was SO pretty!
Thanks for all your hard work putting it together.
And did we kick butt at battle of the sexers or what? Though it did take us longer than I had expected.
Love You!!!

I put the "chips" comment in just for YOU, M, as I remember well Dennis going on about our chips at thanksgiving. After all the games were done we were down by 4 bags o chips!
Battle O the sexes is still ruled by women, in spite of the men asserting the questions were obviously stilted. Whatever...
It was a great day, and yes, no gluten , but plenty of gluttony.

Flat Stella looks and sounds like an interesting guest. I am guessing that she is the doll in a few of those pictures. I loved that you put "as she says with jealousy"! That was great. Also in defense of chips....there is never a bad time to eat them holiday or not :) I am a serious chip lover though so maybe I am biased. Glad to hear the women won at battle of the sexes and that everyone had a nice holiday.

Thanks Oscar!

I have so many gluten free things bookmarked, but I can never find all the good ones myself.
