Sisters, Sisters

Inspired by Oscar's loving tales of her and her sister I decided to share my thanks for the women in my family.
As I write I have the tune of "Sisters" by Rosemary Clooney jingling through my head. (for those of you unfamiliar with "White Christmas" and this song....the best I can say is that Rosemary is George Clooney's Aunt..........which is more useless trivia I keep stored in my shrinking brain. Anyway, you should rent "White Christmas" just to see the performance of that song)

This lovely picture highlights the beauties in our family. (If Crazy Lady makes any more comments about double chins or any other body part I will have to take action)
The photo was taken after we had all walked up to the high lookout point at "Old Faithful" in Yellowstone. Such an eventful trip. Bears eating cookies off the hood of the new 72 pickup, infuriating dad because of scratch marks. (said cookies the 3 of us youngest pushed out the window of the camper above) Miste nearly choking to death on a hard candy in the camper and Roberta breaking a window to get mom and dads attention in the cab up front.
Everyone kept asking of the last 3 of us were triplets because of the matching outfits mom made us. Irish triplets I guess? (Funny what detail I can remember 30 years later, but I can't remember what I was just looking for in the other room. )
Anyway, the 5 of us girls are very different personalities really, with very different lives. But the one thing I know for sure is that I could count on any one of my sisters to help if I needed it. That counts for a lot. I am so very grateful for 4 amazing, strong, talented, loving sisters.
To quote Rosemary "Sisters, Sisters, there were never such devoted sisters."
(I'm telling you ... watch the movie)

I had the song going through my head before you even mentioned it. It's a great song - I believe someone shared it with me on my ipod :0) I'm a bit peeved that you beat me to the draw on the ode to sisters... she said crankily. But, will echo your sentiments in my own way at some point in the near future (I hope). Your memory IS dang amazing.I remember my cool, skort (cross between skirt and shorts for those of you not in the know)and those groovey enourmous round glasses I was so jazzed about after years of cat eye glasses. I also remember the lifesaver candy incident and the broken window. But, as far as the cookie eating bears, and climbing - nada. It's a good thing you are Roberta are around to remind me.
Thanks for the lovely post, and I'm sure my children will be thrilled to see once again a pic of their mom in high 70's fashion, Mackay style:0)

Naturally I remember choking incedent, the hike and the bears on the hood of the car. I also remember the triplets questions and that we found license plates from every state in the union including Hawaii. I remember the picture too but thing that really struck me seeing it again is how young an beautiful mom is in that picture (despite the silly look on her face)!! Dennis' comment when I said that was "well she was." Thanks for sharing that memory. It's a great one. It IS lovely to have such amazing, wonderful and talented sisters. And despite the distance and differences that separate us, we are still inseparably connecty by love for each other!

What a great post! The picture is really good too. Crazy Lady...those glasses are to die for. Sisters are so great and you all seem to have such a great bond. It is nice to have so many sisters to call for advice or to laugh with. You all are lucky to have each other. Sisters are great!!

Funny you should metion White Christmas and the "Sister" song. It was just on TV a few days ago and I just happened to see the bit where they sang that song. I have seen bits and pieces of that movie over the years but never that one. How ironic.

I guess I don't have any idea who you are. All I know is that you have links to both of our blogs. Not that I mind, mind you. You seem really nice. I was just curious, who are you? Are you an artist?
