Pics from Tia

Well, miss Tia did update her blog after 8 months... but has yet to post pictures on it. She is a busy working girl with a commute.
She did send me some pictures of the practice quilt Aleta and I started over spring break, along with some of the other quilts Aleta has recently finished. The flower basket quilt is one that Miss Kimberly picked out fabrics and colors for. It is a quilt she started but Aleta finished. The Ladybug quilt is a one that Aleta made for a new baby. The mom requested ladybugs. Kimberly drew these and Aleta made the quilt from that. I really like how the quilting adds to this one.
The last one... the Around the World squares is the "practice quilt" all pieced together, but not yet quilted. Aleta is still trying to come up with the quilting pattern before she takes it all to the big machine she learned how to use to do the quilting.
I told Aleta about Kelsey's cute baby quilts for her girls and she says any curvy quilting on a home machine (as Kelsey has done) is really difficult, and courageous indeed.
Anyway. Just thought some of you might enjoy.
Thanks Tia!

Those are GORGEOUS! They all look like a LOT of work, but man the end result is wonderful. Almost makes me want to quilt - almost. Maybe if I had more than 5 spare minutes I would consider it a bit more.... Thanks for sharing.

Ooh, I like the quilting on the lady bug quilt. That's what I'd like to be able to do, but with my little machine, it's just not possible. I looked up the price of one of those fancy machines- $4,000!

The machine Aleta rents by the hour to do the quilting (she took a class to learn how to use it) is over $15,000!

She decided she could quilt a lot of quilts for the cost of buying even the $4000 model.

I think she pays 8 dollars an hour and the longest time it has taken is 5 hours.
