Making Stoup. Yes... I meant Stoup.

How many consecutive days can you eat the same stoup? No records here I'm sure, but I'm going on 8 days and the pot contents are not even down by half.

Here's the thing.
Since essentially everything that passes through my lips is raw, or cooked from scratch.... by me, (no short cut cereals or quick fixes here) well...quite frankly I get tired of making.

When the weather is cool, which it actually has been, I like a good thick stewy soup. (stoup)So, not long ago I set about making one with the minimal ingredients allowed on my rigid diet restrictions.

Three days, 2 onions, one chicken and countless carrots later I had a beany stoup concoction that was savory when served liberally with cheese.

I'm glad I made it as it has proved a lifesaver over the last couple of super busy work weeks. Nothing like a warmed over bowl of weird beany carrot stoup after a hard day of cold fusion research. Over and over and over.

Its been in the fridge a while now, and today I either needed to freeze it for later consumption, or chuck the giant pot in which I invested so much cooking labor.

Even though I'm sick of it..I am my mother's daughter. There are now 2- one gallon (yup gallon) bags in my freezer.

Spencer is coming to visit in a few weeks. I hope he likes stoup.

Whether he likes it or not, he'll eat it if he is hungry!! That's alot of stoup though with 2 gallons left! Crazy. You really only can do the same stuff over so many times--even if it is good. (word verification "suped" how funny is that--another form of soup?)

What why isn't Spencer coming to visit me? I have to say your stoup sounds better than anything that I make. My kids hate it when I am the cook and not their father.

Addendum

The 2 gallons bags were not completely full...in fact only half. I just don't want to have to thaw a whole gallon and eat it in one fell swoop again.

I'm quite sure this concoction would not be a favorite of nearly ANY child, regardless how charming the maker.

I am loving the convenience of ready made food! I know redundant, I have been eating cabbage soup for dinner every night for the last three weeks...YUMM, the first nights. Now I just dowse it with red peppers so I can't taste it anymore!) GOOOD TIMES!

I just made a big pot o chicken stoup last night. Lots of potatoes, carrots, celery and some corn. I'm going to give some of it away to the new art teacher. She's trying to save money for her wedding and I sure as heck can't eat the giant pot before it goes south.
I've got lots of frozen stuff in the freezer that I need to eat - beans, soup, leftovers. I just can't seem to break out of that "fixing for the masses" mode from when the kids were home. I DO like the leftover - if I can remeber to pull them out of the freezer before they become an iceage mystery.
